Closed Guard Posture Base
Own the tall-posture base that blunts sweeps, posture breaks, and submission setups from closed guard.
How to practice
- Start inside partner's closed guard. Sit tall, hands on their hips, elbows inside their thighs.
- Partner tries to break your posture with collar pulls and hip movement; you reset your spine tall every time.
- Add their sweep attempts: hip bump, scissor, and flower sweeps while you keep base and posture.
- Progress to you landing light short strikes to their body and head between each of their attacks.
- Drill 3 rounds of 3 minutes, alternating roles, scoring one point each time the top player's posture holds through a full attack.
- Finish with a live round where the bottom player is fully free to attack and you must keep posture for 90 seconds straight.
