Drill 2 of 5
Clinch Escape Drill
Escape before opponent controls posture.
How to practice
- Partner locks a strong double collar tie. First escape: swim one arm inside to break one grip.
- Frame on their jaw or shoulder with your forearm and turn your hips to create exit space.
- Push off the frame and circle out - never pull straight back against a strong clinch.
- Second escape: post on their hip, circle hard off your frame hand, and punch on the exit.
- Finish with rounds where every clinch they win costs you a point and every clean escape earns two.
