Drill 5 of 5

Pivot After Combination Drill

Build the habit of exiting after every combination.

How to practice

  1. Shadowbox your go-to combination three times, adding a 45-degree pivot after the last punch each rep.
  2. Pivot off the lead foot: push off the ball of the foot, swing the rear leg around, land facing the same center.
  3. Partner holds pads and pressures forward; throw the combo on the pads and pivot before they swing back.
  4. Add the counter after the pivot - combo, pivot, jab from the new angle as they turn.
  5. Finish with one round of pad work where every combination must end with a pivot, no exceptions.
