Drill 1 of 5
Orthodox vs Southpaw Strategy
Learn basic open-stance strategy.
How to practice
- Walk through the open-stance geometry: both lead feet on the same side, rear hands aligned down the center.
- Shadow fight a southpaw mirror - lead hand probing for foot position, rear hand cocked.
- Drill the rule: whoever's lead foot steps outside controls the angle for the rear straight.
- Partner switches stances mid-round so both of you feel the orthodox and southpaw side.
- Finish with situational rounds where you only score with the rear cross through the open lane.
