Drill 3 of 5
Rope Escape Drill
Help the fighter escape pressure near ropes or cage.
How to practice
- Start with your back on the ropes or cage while partner pressures with controlled combinations.
- Keep your guard tight, let one shot land on the arms, then step off along the rope on an angle.
- Never back straight off the ropes - slide laterally until you find the gap, then push out through it.
- Add the clinch reset: if the angle is not there, tie up, turn them into your spot, and walk out.
- Drill 3 rounds of 2 minutes where the round only ends when you escape back to center three times.
