Drill 2 of 5
Check Hook Exit Drill
Punish an aggressive opponent for rushing forward.
How to practice
- Partner rushes forward behind a jab-cross. Stand at jab range and wait for the entry.
- As they commit, hook off your lead hand while stepping diagonally away from their rear hand.
- Land the hook and exit on the same motion - the step is part of the punch, not an afterthought.
- Drill 15 reps timing the hook to their first step in, then 15 timing it to their second punch.
- Finish with live entries where they may rush or fake, and you only check-hook on the real rush.
