Drill 2 of 5
Underhook Takedown Defense
Stop takedowns and win body control.
How to practice
- Partner secures double underhooks. First defense: drop your hips and widen your base immediately.
- Fight back inside: pummel for your own underhooks and never let them lock hands behind your back.
- If they lock the body, break the grip by attacking the knuckles or pulling their chin down.
- Practice the whizzer escape: when they drive, whizzer the near arm and turn the corner out.
- Finish with rounds starting from their double underhooks - you score by escaping to open space.
